Unique Design

The one-of-a-kind Clam Box of Ipswich restaurant was built in 1935 by Dick Greenleaf. He designed the tall, trapezoidal establishment to look like a giant-sized cardboard to-go container with the flaps tipped open on top. This helped us become a nationally recognized landmark.

Enjoyed by Generations

Our roadside restaurant is located about 30 miles north of Boston in the historic beach town of Ipswich. Generations of New England families have been coming over to enjoy the finest fried seafood for more than 85 years.

Acclaimed Reputation

The Clam Box of Ipswich has been featured in many magazines and TV shows like Yankee Magazine, Phantom Gourmet, US Airways, The Food Network, and WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle. We may not have invented fried clams, but we are the ones who perfected them.
